CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Tap: This dance is comprised to make rhythm and sounds using the mechanics of one’s toes and heels.

Attire: black leotard, black leggings and black tap dance shoes

Hip hop: This dance is a mix of urban and street styles combined with popular music (upbeat). Students will learn in a up beat/high energy environment that focuses on increasing cardiovascular health through aerobic activity.

Attire: Comfortable clothes, a pair of gym shoes (that aren’t worn outside or for fashion)

Modern: a form of contemporary, theatrical and concert dance using technique for developing the use of full body movement.

Attire: Black leotard, black shorts or leggings, barefoot (NO SHOES)

Jazz: This uses the primary basis of ballet techniques through isolations, combinations, floorwork matched with jazz music.

Attire: black leotard, black pants or leggings, black jazz shoes

Lyrical: This course is a blend of modern, jazz and ballet technique combinations used through full body expressions and emotions. Students will practice dance and floorwork to inspirational music and how to dance with emotion.

Attire: black leotard or t-shirt, black leggings or shorts, barefoot (NO SHOES, but foot undies are acceptable)

Ballet: This class will focus on basic techniques, proper body alignment, french terms and music (typically classical). The students will be introduced to elementary barre and center work twice a week.

Attire: Black leotards, pink tights and pink ballet shoes
